EDEXCEL ECONOMICS AS LEVEL EXAM STRUCTURE

• 90 minutes per paper
• 2 sections in each paper

Section A

1. 5 multiple choice questions – one mark for each one

2. Short questions:
          – ‘define’
          – ‘calculate’
          – ‘illustrate’
          – ‘explain’

Section A is worth 20 marks

Ideally spend no more than 15 minutes

Section B

1. KAA stands for: Knowledge Application Analysis

2. A case study with six parts – approximately 50 minutes for the first five parts
          – 4 marker (KA)
          – 5 marker (KAA)
          – 6 marker (KAA)
          – 10 marker (KAA + evaluation)
          – 15 marker (KAA + evaluation)
          – 20 marker (choose one question out of two choices available) (25
          minutes approx)
